When you hear the name “Lee Kuan Yew,” that probably means nothing to you. I can’t blame you.
But he’s THE man who built his country to become the 3rd richest in the world - 65% richer than the U.S.
Ladies and gentlemen, the secret behind Singapore’s success 👇
That’s right - air conditioning. Apparently it’s the secret sauce to the make-your-country-rich-as-hell recipe, especially for a country in a terribly humid environment, like Singapore.
Why? Unless you’re a psychopath, you know how impossible it is to sleep, get work done, or really do anything right in hot-ass weather.
In many countries, like India, you literally have to stay inside and try and sleep until it cools down enough!

If all your time and energy are going towards cooling yourself down, you definitely won’t be as productive with your work.
If you’re a student, you’ll definitely do worse on your tests - for example, as Wharton professor Ethan Mollick writes, “over 13 years in NYC alone, upwards of 510,000 exams that otherwise would have passed likely received failing grades due to hot exam conditions," and these failures delayed or stopped 90k graduations!”
Imagine all the students failing and employees missing deadlines in these countries, like Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, and India that have little A/C in hot climates👇
It’s not just developing countries either, but most of Europe that doesn’t have A/C, despite an increasingly warmer world.
Countries like the UK, France, and Germany should follow the example of countries who’ve achieved tons of success with the help of A/C, like Singapore, China, UAE, and the U.S. 🦅🇺🇸 🦅.
You’ve probably all heard the news about Europe trying to reduce the use of A/C - like France during the Olympics this year.
Here’s my response to those, like France, who protest against air conditioning, like it’s still the 1970s:
It’s not the 1970s
Air conditioning saves lives and is less energy-intensive than heating your home during the winter
As clean energy skyrockets around the world (thank you solar, wind, and batteries!), the power source that fuels air conditioning is becoming cleaner and cleaner, so chill out ❄️
Rise up and install an A/C unit!
Still curious?
This killer thread from The Cultural Tutor on X/Twitter, which frankly kicks my post’s ass

Zero pick pocket attempts in europe so far. Do my pockets not look abundant? Am I not immersed in the moment? Humiliating.
