⬇️ Let’s get it.
🤢 How is there less poison in the air?
For a number of local air pollutants, we may have already reached (indeed passed) Peak Pollution—the latest from @_HannahRitchie, including why the Environmental Kuznets Curve "tells a pretty accurate and consistent story": sustainabilitybynumbers.com/p/peak-polluti…

The headlines: 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗
The reality: across the globe, especially in developed countries, we’re doing a good job lowering our carbon emissions and also making the air cleaner at a local level, which is a BIG deal.
Why?
Because millions of people die a year around the world die from local air pollution, like blful pollutantsack carbon and other harm🤢
This should inject you with a rush of optimism for the week as you go to the email factory! 🤩
What’s next?
I’ll quote the piece from the tweet —
“Air pollution increases as countries develop, gain access to energy, and industrialise. They then fall once a country gets rich enough to impose pollution standards and limits without infringing on development and the move away from energy poverty…
The goal now is to see if countries can move through this curve much faster – and with lower levels of pollution – than countries like the US or the UK did. This should be doable: we’ve learned a lot over the last 50 years about how to produce energy with less pollution, what technologies work and don’t work, and have reduced the costs of solutions that were expensive in their early days” — like solar power and batteries!
And here’s a hilarious tweet on the future of dating in an age of AI —
A ruthless self-taught dating machine who weaponizes your biodata to whittle down matches, raising concerns over privacy and consent? Congrats, you've invented the Indian mom.
